while it will loose some stuff, flash-> AI is fine. to be honest, it would be rad for Mr. Davis to comment on this one.

(May 1 06, 15:14)there's a lot of dashed line etc used in the illustrations i've been handed and they're getting totally fcked in the conversion.
also overlapping shapes nesting into each other..
bahh!

Flash will desaturate colors when opened in Illustrator. It also remaps all the points in that Hellish Flash way I hate.

so back to the OG question... does this crap happen if i were to go flash->freehand->eps.. ?
i don't have Freehand installed anymore, but if it helps these illustrations any, i would reinstall.

now that adobe and macromedia are fucking each other, hopefully things might be a little smoother in the future.
but not right now. strokes and keeping shit from welding ect....
less than desirable results.

yeah for the record:
i reinstalled Freehand MX2004 and tested...
- the POS (FH) won't open .fla's
- and export to .ai -> FH -> .eps gives same ends results in AI.about the only good thing i have to say about FH is that the installer package includes an uninstaller.
