  yeah for the record:

  i reinstalled Freehand MX2004 and tested...

  - the POS (FH) won't open .fla's
  - and export to .ai -> FH -> .eps gives same ends results in AI.

  about the only good thing i have to say about FH is that the installer package includes an uninstaller.
