well, if we're comparing deals now, i have a 30 year old lease, upper west side, 3 bed, 3 bath, living, dining, 10 closets (1 cedar lined, of course), door man, and 14th floor river view, $1500. you will have to drag my cold, lifeless body out of there to get me to move.

I pay 1200 for a 400 sq ft. studio.
You should be able to get a nice place for 2000. There's a website where you rent directly from the landlord, no broker involved, but i forget what it is...

(Apr 27 06, 13:36)there is a limit on it though... i think when the rent hits $2000, if you're houshold income is over a certain amount, they can reset it to market value.

i lived on 190th street last for a year or so, it was cool - it was close to the subway, about 40 minutes to midtown - a one-bedroom was $1,000 a month, it was a 6-floor apt kind of dirty.
didn't mind the neighborhood, but there were always murders in fort tryon park across the street.
come to think of it that place wasn't that cool.

i need a place close to midtown...
