is director kaput? i just started using again after a 4 year break and WOW there is squat out there in terms of documentation. plus i never see embedded shockwave anywhere serious anymore.

I think that it is probably on it's way out. I never see job posts looking for Lingo skills. I used to like it myself. Then I learned to use flash. Which was far better suited for web.

Knowing director got me my 1st job while I was still in school... seems so long ago...

Director to me died right after Flash MX was released. Flash can do anything Director can and make it smaller iin size. I have found nearly no relevent tutorials or documentation of any sorts.
Plus your right- If I have to d/l a shockwave plugin to view content chances are I'm leaving your site.

Director still rocks the real-time 3d world... Flash can't even come close. It is far superior in it's ability to access the local file system as well as it's ability to load a huge variety of media assets at runtime.
The list goes on.. however there is a price.. Lingo.

The last time i used flash... http://www.bodysong.com other than for using as a grab tool to export programmed animations in Flash... but i'm thinking could probably just do that with the bitmap thing now...

I did this product :
with it, it's distributed on cd (and available for download soon). Now working on two sequel products. There are still things you just can't do with flash, great as it is.
