It says something that their work from 10 years ago sits comfortably with their recent work. It doesnt show much growth, but it does show an ability to age gracefully.
The website is shit... but their last one was an even bigger pain in the ass... so go figure.

I'm sure they really care about making the most GR@FFiX0R K00l3st website on the planet.

it's not that it's hard to work out, it's just very irritating to use and slow. and i personally think it looks absolutely wank. nothing captures attention and the type and backgrounds are just plain nasty.

i dont think its non-functional at all
yeah it dissapears - but at least you knwo where the navigation is when you need it.
im sure my granny could even figure out this site!
- rockdog0
...if you've got a site that's so shit and non-functional, how do people get to the content?

very simple navigation on the left... (one can discuss for hours if the disappearance is any good)and you have to learn to klick on grey buttons...
is that so non-funtional? just wondering...

I can't stop watching this, whatever it is...
- mr_snuggles0
I remember one of my fave pieces was the 'Rolling Crips' animation...

cheers mr snuggles.
id also like to add that it was the likes of Tomato and Anti-Roms sexy little interactive things that really had no meaning at all that made me choose to specialise in 'new media' rather than doing print/packaging design.

well put kon23...

i dunno, you occasionally hear of them in creative review but they definitely are not as in the limelight as they used to.
they'll get thrown big cash by big corporates and brands who know they'l get the results they expect from tomato. something experimental, something a bit arty, something a bit londonwanky that no other agency outwith london would be able to get away with.
outside london - the rest of us have to rely on PROPER work and jobs and not just a client turning up at our door and the brief being "heres £20,000 - do me something cool n arty"when i was at art college tomato were heros.
you'd look forward to the latest issue of creative review coming out cos you'd know there'd be some tasty shit from Tomato or Anti-Rom on the free CDRom.and the skyscraper books and underworld album covers were a big influence too. i used to do a lot of that black and white stuff, cutting printouts out then photocopying/distressing bla bla. all part of the learning process.
needless to say the lecturers didnt like this "new style" of typography i was coming out with lol.i didnt delve into the content of the tomato site - but i will when ive got time to explore.
navigation is a bit of a pain in the ass - mind you ... it IS different ... and that's tomato!

interestingly enough, some of the work they have put up on their site is around ten years old or more.
- krust0
you say tomayto, and i say tomartow

I don't think the content is that great, they were doing the same thing years ago.
Although what do i know, they do have reputation for being the best.
- nosaj0
I love their company name more everytime I hear it.
- krust0
who can be arsed with content when the website annoys you to high f*&k!
- mr_snuggles0
it's not shit and it's not like it's world's away from say something like Skyscraper. I think it's just the industry now vs. 5-10 years ago..
I dunno, that's how I see it from my high horse...
- rockdog0
what about "content is king" folks? it seems to me nobody's looking at content anymore... the work is superb... its no sooper-dooper-eyecatching-dizzle...
