i dunno, you occasionally hear of them in creative review but they definitely are not as in the limelight as they used to.

they'll get thrown big cash by big corporates and brands who know they'l get the results they expect from tomato. something experimental, something a bit arty, something a bit londonwanky that no other agency outwith london would be able to get away with.
outside london - the rest of us have to rely on PROPER work and jobs and not just a client turning up at our door and the brief being "heres £20,000 - do me something cool n arty"

when i was at art college tomato were heros.
you'd look forward to the latest issue of creative review coming out cos you'd know there'd be some tasty shit from Tomato or Anti-Rom on the free CDRom.

and the skyscraper books and underworld album covers were a big influence too. i used to do a lot of that black and white stuff, cutting printouts out then photocopying/distressing bla bla. all part of the learning process.
needless to say the lecturers didnt like this "new style" of typography i was coming out with lol.

i didnt delve into the content of the tomato site - but i will when ive got time to explore.
navigation is a bit of a pain in the ass - mind you ... it IS different ... and that's tomato!
