How do,
I need a new computer for work and i was looking at the G5 quad (duel core / duel cpu) and was wondering if now was a good time to buy with all the intel shinanigans going on? Do you think I would be better off waiting a bit first?

I'd buy a nice PC and a mac mini.

i dont really want a pc, as i much prefer the workflow on a mac, and a mac mini isnt an option because its not powerful enough (for motion graphics).

it's dammed if you do , dammed if you don't right now. I've recently got a cheap G5 cos I need the speed boost now but I don't really need the latest and greatest (writing this on a pismo). it's down to personal preference at the end of the day.
plus I'm a cheapskate, so ended up paying about half the price that a newer model would've cost me ;-) It will be impossible to sell in a few years though - whereas an intel will still have some market value.

I've got a Dual 2.3 at work, and it's a bad ass machine. The thought of the quad being roughly twice as quick as this thing (yes, I know it doesn't work like that) is a little scary.
I think the Quad will last for quite a while if bought now.
Plus, Creative Suite in universal binary ain't coming out until next year, so until then your stuck with the slow-ass-run-in-rosetta-version. I've heard that's slow...
*and* 'PowerMacs' with intel processors aren't even out yet...

we just bought a quad g5 maxed out for this purpose, with a 5 drive RAID array. Should be plenty fast enough for some time.
