i'd like nothing better than to see this become the number one with a bullet hot topic on the evening news, and create a shit-storm of controversy, but the sad fact, is that most folks think the wire-tapping is either totally o-kay, or they plain ol 'dont' care'...

They need to make it really clear that his liberty with the law and bipassing the FISA is what's really in question, not just wiretapping. They need a strong analogy to highlight the illegality, and arrogance of his actions.

exactly. the right wing has been framing the argument as democrats dont want terrorists to be wiretapped at all. That isnt what it is about and is what makes republicans lame to me. They'll lie, cheat and steal to ram their agenda through.

they need to show it more as a presidential powerplay...arrogance and an 'above the law' attitude...most folks i think don't care about the wiretapping in general because they think it does't apply to them 'i've done nothing so i've nothing to fear'
but just about EVERY american hates the idea of a small select few being above the law...
that just tends to piss everyone off...the idea that an elite bunch of wealthy folks can essentially do whatever the fuck they want..showcase the 'breaking the law' part, and showcase the 'laws dont' apply to the bush family' aspect of this case, and the dems have a shot
but like i said..it's a looong shot..

one thing i thought was kind of funny tho,
historically speaking, most of those areas (way down south) were originally mexican...the lines on the map may change, but the people tend to stay the same...
and most of those people, as it turns out, are mexican.
anyhow, not trying to rain on your parade pavlov, but if you're talking about that sort of border enforcement, it looks like a lot of folks disagree..

illegal immigration into this country can and should be stopped
it is not because they accept very low pay for jobs that americans will not do at the pay being offered
there is no way to unionize complain and have legislation passed that will increase the rate these jobs pay if the illegal immigrants don't mind being paid 20% or less of minimum wage
and, any companies that depend on/use illegal immigrant labor will not speak up for the right of the "american worker"
