I've been using ATT for 2 years, and I haven't had any issues... It's nice because I'm in the US, and have Canadian clients... and all my calls to Canada are included in the flat fee.
Works for me.

skype is great.
i think if you live in the US you can get a skype IN number.
we have a skype out so we can call any phone from the computer.

I use Comcast Digital Voice and its been super sweet so far!
The modem they use comes with an 8 hour battery backup in case power goes out.
I did a lot of research on Vonage and was really nervous about going with them because for every good review there was a horrible review to go along with it. So I'm not sure about those guys.
The quality on Skype isn't good but it works well for international calls...mainly because its free.

Have used Vonage for about a year now. At first, some calls had an echo, but they pushed a firmware upgrade to my router and all is well. Unlimited calling for 24 bucks a month...There is more than enough bandwidth to have my wife on the phone all day (her work) and me on the interwebs..only time things get dicey is if I am uploading (not downloading) a large file to my servers.

skype rules. i use it all day everyday for int'l business and personal use. the only thing i want is a Smart Phone that can run it and i can use it as my mobile full-time.
i use skypeIn, skypeOut and peer-to-peer.

but the netgear skype phone will work anywhere with wireless (carry it everywhere you go)
you can hook skype up to any wireless phone.
