After a long and reluctant postpone, I've finally installed Tiger on my G5 dual 1.8, 1.5GB ram.
The clean way, from scratch, not an upgrade.
Everything is über (apart from the fact I forgot to backup my safari bookmarks!!)
AND
The fans keep spinning up and then down quite regularly.
Done a full hardware diagnostics all green lights.
The system is running very smoothly no hangups
BUT
The constant spin up/down thing is a little worrying,Anybody experience a similar thing and know where to start looking for the prop?

i think that is common. seems like the fans area always going a little crazy on my machine at work. not sure if it is a constant up and down though.
these suckers get hot! hot hot hot! i tell ya!

Try going into the Options in Energy Saver Preferences, select HIGHEST in the Processor Performance box.
My Dual 2ghz G5 fans used to go nuts, ever since this was changed its been running sweet as an Ox. Hardly any noise from the fans and thats with giving Photoshop nearly 3GB of Ram to work with and most of the Adobe CS open.
