- sureshot0
nope not me.

amazing
- winter0
i did. i had a lot of expectations but somehow the plot smells a bit like politically correct stuff, which hinders the work imho.
amazing story-telling though, even when it does not resolve itself. technically it's great.
- andre_andreev0
it does resolve itself to a large extend . . . did you catch what happened in the last scene

It's a great film, but there were just sooooo many questions at the end. It really requires you to read up on it after the initial or 2nd viewing, because so many questions can be partially answered by talking or discussing it with other. Same goes for almost every other film. After the discussion, I liked it even more.
I loved the way they portrayed the violent acts. They were sudden and unexplained.

P.S. Andre, the last scene could have many different interpretations.
- andre_andreev0
yeah, but you understand who was behind the tapes . . .
- winter0
yeah, i think so, but the motif seems a bit lame. let's not get into discussion?
we would spoil it for those who haven't seen it.

sucked ass
...and the last scene?
Europe (France) takes a few valiums and goes to bed.
The only part of the film that rang true.
- winter0
that's true :)
and one never gets to know how could the initial footage be filmed. from what point in that street. but maybe that doesn't matter since it's really a political movie and not a detective story.
- wooyang0
andre_andreev, do you really think the last scene explains who was behind the tape?

Just got back from seeing it.
Surely it's not just political, on an even simpler level, it's reminding us that we rush to find an answer to most things so quickly, we often miss whats in front of us, and most important.
Hence shots that don't move - you're not led to anything so you're looking everywhere for things that aren't there.
Someone said it's like being autistic and watching a film.
Amazing, just amazing. So good, i put the ticket up as my new splash page: www.2605.co.uk

is this for nerds?

it's such a good film. go see it.

You could also say the tapes didn't exist (has to do with the lead character's mind and other existential stuff), or that the lead character (forget his name) put them there himself, especially since it was quite difficult to actually film everything. Also because of that scene where he goes out to look outside, and the tape ends up behind him.
Anyway...

I must agree with Jaline. You need to see it more than once, or twice. There's much more than meets the eye.
Dan Schechter's website is great too:

I think the scene where the tape ends up behind the main character, planted inside the house gives you a pretty definate answer on who was behind the tapes . . . and why

I really liked this movie too.
I think the idea here is that the audience or the camera itself is sending the tapes to the characters in the movie. The effect is to find another way to show how outside elements and ideas control us.
