I'm a huge fan of yellow...

and i'm a huge fan of subduction. i like the concept of information graphics as inspiration for even more pared-down, abstracted information graphics. really lovely.

nice one
on another related note:
60 minutes had a interesting segment on global warming last night. Really no doubt anymore over who's causing it, if there ever was.

i know - i wish the sweedes would quit warming the globe, we all know what they are up to

I think the biggest issue is that you run the risk of alienating morons like me with such a subtle representation of complex processes. With that being said, i do like the approach for a personal project.
Visually I'd prefer a heavier brown line and no white outline. Maybe full bleed yellow instead of the border. As well maybe no rounded corners, if the folds are sharper that might be more suiting...
- kyl30
I have to agree, Heavier line work would convey the enormity of power behind the process.
- mr_snuggles0
maybe a more iconic approach might work as well. So not having the lines extend from edge to edge...

i like it.
carry on.

Nice idea making it more iconic mr snuggles. Will have a play.
I can see your points about making the line heavier but I do quite like it subtle.
Cheers so far guys and girls.

I think it may just play out better in terms of consistency throughout the series... if it was a one-off then I wouldn't think of it...
- skt0
Yeah, to be honest I haven't really planned out what ones I'm going to do yet, they might all need a very different approach. I mean it would be very difficult to do the ice cap fluctuations over time in such a simple line form.

i dont know what subduction is therfore i have absolutly no clue as to what your trying to say.
however, have no fear! google has the answers...

ah... plate movement.
well i like the subtle brown lines as i feel it repesents the fragility of the eartch. it could be said that while the thin lines represent the fragility the thicker outline represents the actual enormity of the land, 'the big', 'the earth' etc.
the curved lines, to me say that its a nice, slow, almost comforting process - which it probably isnt. is it not high pressure, jarred, violent, crushing movement?
maybe the shape of the line could reflect this better?
i understand that you have abstracted the concept totally but what about the possibility of the poster reflecting earthly colours? wholesome green and blues? in syaing that, i like the brownline as i feel it represents earthy soil.
im not really a huge fan of the yellow and maybe you could experiment with different type faces?
hope that is of some help.

(Feb 20 06, 09:46)LOL. funny thing is, when i first read the poster i was trying to understand how the lines represented seduction. i thought the lines were all inferences to har cocks, soft cocks and the life of a cock as a man gets seduced... i know... ill shut up now.

Morning Europe. And?
- craic_whore0
More iconic, and stick it in a circle to represent the earth mubby.
- phatlee0
I like it, have you tried it without the thin outline?
