damn dude, sorry about your ride.
i fucked up both rims on my last car. i was driving out to my parent's house at night not paying attention to the road and BAM hit a huge pothole. scared the shit out of me. it was such a major hit i pulled over under the next streetlight and looked at the tires to make sure they weren't fucked. the tires were fine but both rims were destroyed, front and back on the passenger side.
i called the cops and had them come out and file a report. took them back to the spot in the road and he put that in the report. that night i took photos of my car with the date and time turned on in the camera, then went back out to that spot in the road and took photos.
then turned them into my ins and they went after the state.
after a bunch of bullshit they paid for my new rims. $345 each for factory rims. WHA?!?!? I took the cash and bought 4 brand new custom rims. haha.
2 days after filing the compliant the hole was fixed and they tried to cover it up saying there was no hole there, but I had picture proof. Fuckers.

it's their responsibilty to keep the street safe. so many pot holes... it's really bad in nyc. i am afraid one day, the street will collapse on me while i am standing.

i was driving home from my friend's house. i was being careful the whole time. i took the backroads instead of the main way because this way was more lit up. the road had lots of potholes and bumps made by patching up of potholes, so it was really rough without the snow. i was slowing down to turn into my street and hit a group of bumps, my car hopped a little and i lost traction.
i was going so slow so i had time to try lots of things. i tried the brake at various levels. then i let the ABS step in and try to stop on its own. when that didn't work, i added the handbrake. that didn't work so i thought about other things i could do. i tried going left to right, but that seemed to make things worse. my turn finally came up so i tried to turn and power my way up the street. the haldex kicked in a little but i still had too much momentum (somehow) and hit a curb with my front passenger side wheel.

the thing that made me sad was that i was being as careful as i could driving the entire way home. and i did everything i could to avoid what happened. it was supposed to happen no matter what.

it's actually the patches they put over the potholes that got me. they never do anything to this road because no one drives on it because it's always in bad shape.
i'm not sure if there's anything wrong with the suspension or not. the wheel did scrape against the caliper. i can only tell if something's wrong by driving and listen to sounds. but with all this snow on the road, i don't think i could tell.
so i was going to put the snow tires i should've put on the audi on my golf, but no i can't find my wheel lock key. so i'm stuck home. and i don't want to risk driving the audi if there is something wrong because i have a long commute to work.
