onanism, what is it?
- flagellum0
Agreed, Sharif. Well put!
My entry into this discussion was simply to point out that it should come as no surprise that certain groups make threats when there are reasons to believe that their religion's founder set a similar precedent. It was just an opinion based on the data I've read.

it's a completely false opinin when you compare the actual history of Muslim empires, to that of well Christian. It's an ignorant point you continue to labour due to your own beligerance.

Sharif is basically correct..
religion vs. religion is a stoopid debate.
that said, ya'll religious types basically believe in unicorns...

I have never known you to "just state your opinion" without inflaming some arguement discipler/flagellum. You are not tolerant of pther beliefs imo.

So Sharif, if someone could explain to me how the passages from the Quran and Hadith which I've quoted above (and there were lots more I didn't list obviously), do not demonstrate that Mohammed used military force to achieve his ends, I'm open to listen.

Religion is the problem PERIOD.
- flagellum0
How am I intolerant, kelpie? Have I "bashed" a religion here, or in any other thread?
Or have I cited specific data to communicate a point?
You can be tolerant and disagree with a position.

haha. sheriiiiiiiiif don't like it....
'mon sherif!
- flagellum0
Agreed, Redd.
We don't need religion with it's legalistic ritual and endless performance. We need to fall back and rest in a relationship. One that truly transforms.

I like this passage that makes some Christians think it's ok to murder homosexuals:
"Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness...they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (Romans 1)"
- flagellum0
paraselene, there will be no rocking the casba here.
- paraselene0
damn. spelled your name wrong. soz.

Sharif, there's nothing worse than taking texts out of context. So show me if I've done that.

more of "god's mercy" in the new testament...
Revelation 21:8 - But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, as for murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death."
Revelation 9:15 - So the four angels were released, who had been held ready for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, to kill a third of mankind.
Revelation 9:18 - By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulphur issuing from their mouths.
Revelation 11:13 - And at that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

pavlov is always a help too, by demonstrating how to take something out of context to make it say something it doesn't. Thanks for the help! :)
Text out of context = pretext.
