hmm. the humble yet mighty falafel. I'd say it's most famous in Israel, but probably sprung up about the same time throughout the middle east before travel towards europe and expanding throughout the world. very much like the judeo-christ-islamic religions.

Too vague. Very common in most Middle Easten and North African countries. Cheap to make, but delicious. Lived off of them in Egypt.

It's funny though, each country takes claim to these regional foods. My Syrian buddy swears and get's pissed if I say it's Lebanese food. hahah funny stuff.
