It is true that God created the Garden of Eden, not the Farm of eden. His original prescribed diet was vegetarian. Only after the fall of man did humans begin consuming animal meat.

i think it means if youre going to make a salad, you know wioth some carrots and lettuce, maybe some basil, you might as well throw some chicken on there. go all out.

Keep reading. There are verses which say which animals exactly are OK to eat.

When Jesus brought the new covenant he declared that there were no longer unclean foods. After all, he was the fulfillment of old covenant with all of it's regulations.
Matthew 15:11:
"What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' "
Matthew 15:18:
"But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.'"

nothing is true, everything is permitted, babies.

what difference does it make?
why base anything you do around a piece of bad fiction
- skelly0
because it's not bad fiction to everyone.
- -scarabin-0
you're right, sometimes it's misleading, contradictory, flawed, and outdated fiction
- flagellum0
it's only misleading, contradictory, flawed, and outdated fiction to those who have never read it and believe it's "intellectual" to make such misguided claims.
The burden lies with those who make such claims to support them with evidence.
Which of course always results in a listing of the alleged "contradictions", out of contex.t and demonstrating the accuser's gross misunderstanding of how to approach the reading and interpretation of scripture.

the truth is not debatable. it lives in your heart not a book. but despite being entirely subjective, people will continue to try to argue, debate, and make fun of people for what they believe to be true. to each their own.....

I been recently having doubts about eating meat myself. Animals have feelings, and we should be more responsible on how we treat them.

wasn't hitler vegan? doesn't necessarily mean anything, just a black eye for fascists.

I'm surprised this isn't a pot thread. I don't even smoke, but I thought of pot right away.
Where's Discipler?

Bottom line is, "who cares?" If people would just stop pushing their beliefs over on others a good percentage of the arguments over this would be avoided. But that will never happen.
In the meantime, I'm going to eat animals as long as they taste good or I die... whichever comes first. And, I'm not going to read the bible either. I fall asleep reading MAXIM, how am I going to make it thru the bible?

why cant you read?
- Point50
because it's boring.
Pictures are so easy to understand.

how can any of you read the christian mythology, honestly look at yourself and say you believe any of it
it's all just such obvious bullshit yet so many of you agonize over stupid details like should you eat fish or whatever
like any of it fucking matters
like it's really the word of "god" or something
- -scarabin-0
the whole basis of christianity lies in the idea that you should abstain from "pagan" practices of natural pleasures in the belief that when you die you will be rewarded with eternal life up in the clouds with a giant, omnipotoent, and omniscient guy (which itself is a greedy pursuit)
a lifetime of worrying about whether you should be doing this or that, abstaining from this, not eating, drinking, smoking, or fucking that, even your own thoughts are made to be your enemy
ridiculous, i say
you're going to die and when you do all this misery will have been for nothing because you're fucking dead like all the other animals on this planet
eat what you want, drink what you want
enjoy the small amount of time you have
don't waste it with this stupid shit
