Hi Everyone,
I am about to start freelancing in manchester and was wondering if anyone could advise me on a reasonable rate for a design/advertising agency. They have about 3 account handlers and 4 designers. Any rough ball park figures would be great
Cheers

Hi Guys just thought i would ask this question again
- jamble0
What sort of work are you doing?
I would probably opt for £25-30/hr for design type work, more for programming. Does depend entirely on the job though and probably also the duration of the contract.
- springbok0
its just a daily contract and its design and programming
- jamble0
I'd probably try for about £30/hr if it were me but I guess it's a bit of a tough one to provide a definitive figure but that would be a rate I'd feel happy about charging and I don't think it's too high to make the employer think twice about hiring!

i think i vaguely remember you from somewhere. were you one of the chaps who came around mezzo as a part of the attik course last year?
ne way as for rates, £250 a day or so is okay.
- springbok0
yea was one of the guys from the attik, do you work at mezzo?
- mutanthands0
ya, well used to. moving to london in a couple of weeks.
you got the project you did online? wouldnt mind taking a peek at the final result!
- springbok0
no never put it online, need to get it online soon actually, do u know if they are re-doing there website? becuase we approached them to revamp it
- mutanthands0
yes they are but it's going to be all done in house.
i did a really nice site re-design about 7 months ago (which they ended up using the concept for totally re-do their identity), no idea what happened to that haha!

Mutanthands, just thought I'd say I've seen your work (I was at DS.Emotion when you sent your CD in) and you've got some good stuff going on, what are you gonna be doing in London? freelance or permanent?
- mutanthands0
thanks fella! Ds emotion never got back to me at all which was a bit of a shame :(
heard they were all up-rooting and moving to london!
i'm going to be permanent, maybe doing some freelance on the side (aslong as there's no conflict of interest), not sure yet!

Freelance rates can vary, from £150 a day to £250 a day. I've never needed to charge more than £200, but it can depend on the size of the company and the job you'll be working on.

Nice one mate. Good luck down there!

I rent desk space from this company in Clapham and they give me shit loads of work but it is the kind of work YOU DONT want to be doing - they pay £250 a day and £42 a hour overtime.
As I see it, the more creative the work, the less they pay.
250 a day for powerpoint does pay the bills mind you ;)
