Hi guys,
I'm sick of my portfolio website. I made it a while ago in dreamweaver (as I'm no coding expert). All the buttons are jpegs and the menus are drop down menus. So everytime I want to add an item to a menu I have to recreate the jpegs and update the files etc.
I want a site where all the links are actual text (using css?) and I can add/remove images and text very easily.
Any ideas how someone like me with only a bit of HTML knowledge can create such a site. Can I down load a simple template which I can tweak etc.
Not too worried about the look of the site just as long as the work is there.
thx

Use a dreamweaver template I guess... If you know how they work.
And keep the design simple. This is what I did to mine:

Ask para nicely and she might do you a cms based one for free. She is trying to build up a portfolio and i'm sure something with work as nice as yours in it would go down well.

...mines quite like yours!
I could make you a template, if you supply a design.

Yeah - or ask para.

Thanks for your suggestions guys.
I like your site moth. So far in terms of portfolio site design I really can't see a better alternative than the simple 2 frames design – one for menu, one for content.
I like the daniel eatock concept but I want a bit more control over it (ie I want to choose the font and typography, rather than having defaults etc)
I also like http://www.graphicthoughtfacilit…
for its simplicity but it's so disctinctive and well know that I couldn't use that design.I guess all I need is a template for the content side on the page that I could just change the text and images on when I need to create a new page.

i think the way dinky presents his work is the best way to do a pro portfolio.

Mr Dinky's site looks nice but it's not very useful if you're trying to find something specific, as it's a linear format.
- mr_snuggles0
Agreed, but you could do a simple site like Jeffs and put navigation or "Jump-to" type links at the top to quickly get to a specific project...
- poomoo0
i would disagree with that. the fact that his site is linear and clean makes it easy to get the information you want quickly.
- mr_snuggles0
yeah but you have to scroll without knowing what you're scrolling to.. I think that's what Baskerville means...
- Baskerville0
What if you want to see the 23rd profect out of 50. Surely that's a lot of time clicking through all those projects. But yes a menu could be added very easily.

Someone post a link..

Hmm.
A menu would work and be nice. But I'll forgive on account of the work.

Hey Baskerville, love your work, some really tight peices in there matey!

I clicked on the link in Mr Dinky's profile which leads to a site where you need to click on a + or - to go back and forward through the projects. The streamhub page is nicer since everthing's on one page.
Is is possible to have a standard HTML page on which the font is embedded so you don't have to use arial/verdana etc?
PS sorry for all the elementary web design questions!
