the google pc has been a rumor for a long time. at least the part about google pcs being sold at wal-marts have been shot down by both parties.

google is a joke... dont do evil yet most of the $$$ they make is from porn industry advertising on Google. im reading the google story book now and the more i read it the more i hate that company...

seems like it'll be designed for casual browsers like our folks..sorta thing..
my old man would love it...he's a total newshound..if he could have a computer like that for 200 bucks that just allows him to surf the net and check out sites like wired.com and wikipedia, he'd be in heaven..about a year ago he dropped like 1500 bucks on a new computer, and neither him nor my mom need something like that...what the hell do they need that kind of computing power for?..they're not using photoshop, and they aren't doing 3d modeling..
i think it's fantastic idea, and i think google is just the company to pull it off...
not that i'm cheerleading google or anything, but lets be honest, thus far they haven't done anything (imho) that makes me terribly nervous, and on the other hand EVERYTHING they do makes microsoft nervous....
which, to my mind is a good thing.

things change..
everything changes helloworld..the microsoft model relies on certain things staying the same.
ideas about distribution, people reyling on windows OS, Office, etc..what happens when it all changes?
when such things suddenly either become free, or are deemed unnesecary.i'm not saying microsoft is gonna go tits up because of google, but i do think that the idea of a cheap rival os, a cheap computer, and free office software is more than just a minor headache to them...
if you have a pile of gold worth 50 bucks..
and i have one next to it that i say is free...
yours is suddenly worth a whole lot less than 50 bucks.or something like that
