    things change..
    everything changes helloworld..

    the microsoft model relies on certain things staying the same.
    ideas about distribution, people reyling on windows OS, Office, etc..

    what happens when it all changes?
    when such things suddenly either become free, or are deemed unnesecary.

    i'm not saying microsoft is gonna go tits up because of google, but i do think that the idea of a cheap rival os, a cheap computer, and free office software is more than just a minor headache to them...

    if you have a pile of gold worth 50 bucks..
    and i have one next to it that i say is free...
    yours is suddenly worth a whole lot less than 50 bucks.

    or something like that
