all you need to do is go to new jersey to see how mankind is destroying nature.

(Dec 27 05, 11:36)what eveidence do you have that we aren't nature?
decaying industrial monoliths can be as beautiful as any rain forest... it's all perspective.

right on, pavlov.
we are definitly part of nature. so in essence we are nature.
cultivation is in our nature and so on.....
there are other species that build and abandon.
the problem is that we are the ruling species and have the power to destruct or to save the planet.
the choice is ours.

I choose life or a candybar with pecans.
- pavlovs_dog0
...and have the power to destroy or to save ourselves.
the planet is going to be just fine without us.

I'll give you that one pavlovs_dog. Momma Nature don't care one way or another.

I just had a chance to read this thread pretty thoroughly - my conclusion is simple - science isn't fact..
... but in school - both grammar and college - shit was drilled into your head and you were TESTED on it... you had to memorize what CFC's were - how they hurt the atomasphere... how carbon dioxide is bad and that Trees are our pals for their great CO2 sucking ability...
... I planted trees every year on arbor day in grammar school - was taught to ask for paper containers and not styrofoam... and not to use aersol cans etc...
... this is all good and fine advice - it's good to live 'cleanly'... but there is definetly a massive left-wing group of whiny bitches that are constantly SCARING folks w/their crys as to why we're heating up in general etc...
... and now they tell me that planting trees in certain areas is bad?Never ONCE did I hear something like this in school... not even a hint of this kind of understanding...
... which is FINE - I just don't like the fact that this shit was jammed in my head as FACT.
It obvious that science is the continuos 'study of'... but I'm sorry - the lil lefty-wing enviro nut-jobs use the environment to push their own shit - and it works and has worked because no one ever showed evidence that their 'theories' could possible be WRONG...
... I mean... as a race of beings we are an arrogant group... we don't know SHIT about our planet or our solar system or how things really work because we're not as 'advanced' as we think. I don't think there's one drug on the market that doesn't have some bad side-effects to some people...
... my point being that nothing in our perception of understanding is fact and shouldn't ever be delivered as that... I'm very happy there's more data out there on this topic... and it's data that completely adjusts our thinking on this topic (or should at least - if you want to ignore it.. whatever - //I bet Bush planted it in the media anyway so he could feel good about poopooing the Kyoto Treaty)

i hear ya, pavlov.
but who on the planet except for ourselves(humans) would give a flyin' f*?
- pavlovs_dog0
CFCs did burn a hole in the atmosphere GodBoy...
Banning them allowed it to heal.
FACT.
- pavlovs_dog0
where humanity would be if davinci, newton, darwin, einstein, and plank took GodBoys advice?
OH... WOE IS ME, THE WORLD IS SO MYSTERIOUS I SHOULD NOT EVEN BOTHER TRYING TO DESCRIBE IT METHODICALLY, LET ME BELIEVE IN THESE ABSOLTIST SIMPLE MINDED FAIRY TALES THAT PROMSE ETERNAL LIFE AND IGNORE ALL EVIDENCE TO THEIR CONTARY...
WOE IS ME!

pav... where did I mention God?
My key point is that science is pushed in school as fact... even if it's labeled w/terms such as 'theory of' etc...
... I'm only using the article as an example of how what we're 'taught' as fact... is in fact... not - or is very much undetermined.
What advice did GodBoy give?
I shared my opinion.

I am the Lorax.
I speak for the trees.

I'm down with the global warming in STL MO. Went jogging in a t-shirt today, 60 degrees F + blue sky.
Or maybe it's 'yogging', soft j. It's this new thing. Apparently you just run.

- gramme0
woah small world.
Yeah, I'm not long for the state of Misery. Grew up in Balto MD, spent last year in RI working at Numark & surfing frosty pointbreaks,
now I'm in the middle of the dang country. Phoenix is nice I hear, I think CA is calling my name...0 design scene out here*.

the thing about science in its current state is that it's myopic
