This is a little not-for-profit piece i worked up for artist Carolyn Bogart Deleo. Its just for her work, some collateral, and some gallery related stuff.
Her work is driven by two characteristics: complex forms broken down to their most basic shapes and colors used side by side to provoke emotion. I tried to incorporate that into the mark (when applied with color)

make your work (logo) smaller, and her name bigger and she'll pat you on the back for it.
what i mean, is make sure her name is readable when the logo gets to be 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. which i don't think it would be at these proportions.
overall i like it.

well i wanted to make sure it worked in b&w, the color comes in the application of the mark.
in terms of her art we could have stencils of the mark which would allow her to change the colors in according to the tone of the piece. for collateral she could change the colors according to the seasons maybe. christmas cards could use christmas colors, etc.

Reminds me of Moving Brands. I'm not a great fan of the Moving Brands mark either.

i like it in the proportions you have it.
you can easily make a slight variation in proportions for a small printed logo.. there's nothing wrong with doing that at all.
the logo is too cool this way to screw it up for the sake of functionality only.
me likes!
3 thumbs up.

the mark looks a bit unbalanced to me. might want to play around with proportions a bit more.
I like the style though.. very bauhaus

I like it a lot.

(Dec 23 05, 14:50)a logo has to work, B&W. or did u think everone has color fax machines?!
looks very bauhaus, nice. do think you might want to try using the text under the symbol, see if that works better then on the left side.
ciao. =O)

i aint down with this at all.

I like the basic letterforms, but agree with the comments about the proportions of mark/name, as they both need each other to communicate, as for the colour I thinks it works in black.

what does her art look like?
is the Bauhaus look appropriate? Your description was concise, but it'd be good to see the work as well...
I agree that the balance is a bit lopsided, but maybe that's OK – if you have a reason for setting it up that way?
I like the color flexibility idea a lot – especially for an artist
