nice! happy holidays to ya!
and yeah, if you are serious, you will get a lot of people bitch-slapping you; telling you to use the search function; and telling you to fuck off...so i will do none of those! hello and welcome. i am considered a designer and use both mac and pc everyday. i prefer pc, but that's just me.

I am serious and really want serious real world answers. I am a web and graphic designer, i'm not worried about my fonts or programs, i just want to be sure if i decide to switch.

(Dec 19 05, 23:16)so why do you want to switch? if programs and fonts don't matter...which actually should really be a deciding factor (since they are crazy expensive)..what really makes you want to switch over? the OS and the overall apple design? if that is the case, then i would say stick with pc.

my pc keeps restarting all the time, it's not a virus but a XP browser problem. Believe me i've researched the problem. and i'm pissed, well maybe i'm just bitter.

over a large amount of time a mac is faster with graphics because of the os structure.
So i say mac.
i believe a lot of pc fonts work also in macosx.
So again i say mac.
But i don't know how adaptive you are, i think its best to be with the one you are used to.good luck

Go mac, if you can afford it.
still, I am sure you will keep your PC, which incase needed you can use it then.

I switched a couple of months ago from a pc to a mac. The main difference: you can get a better pc for the same price. Simply because it's cheaper.
I just like working with a mac.

buy an iMac and keep the PC, you can use both ;)

If you like to wear oversized overpriced sunglasses while indoors on a cloudy day then you're cool enough for a mac.

PCs are no good for keeping you dry in the rain. MACs, with their slick modern aesthetic are just too artistic and left-minded to impose order on the lower orders.

I'll be looking for a new computer soon too, and am still undecided - I use mac at home and PC at work and they both have their good points and bad points, so at the end of the day it's up to which tool you prefer using - the software is the same, but may not run quite as you like it on one system - dreamweaver on mac vs PC for example (seems hella sluggish on mac and I hate the layout), but I much prefer using photoshop on a mac. the differences are subtle, but they may make all the difference for you.
saying that, after a day at the PC, using os x is like a breath of fresh air.

Both.
But if I was held up at gunpoint telling me to pick a side or I'll be shot dead, I'd go mac.

With the risk of sounding like a whinging bitch... If you're swapping from a PC to an Imac, then you obviously know how a PC works. Wouldn't it have been more constructive asking people who own G5 Imac's what they like about them and how they find working on them?
