mm, I don't think Sony and Microsoft are doing the industry any long-term favour by clamping down so utterly on security - the 360 looks practically unbreakable and the PSP will lose out so much if the Homebrew movement is killed off as is happening now.
Protecting revenue streams so absolutely in the short term stifles creativity and prevents the 'technical access' for the kind of people who should make the lifeblood of the future industry.
Can you imagine what would happen to the web if content simply couldn't be produced without licensed soft

I am with you design. halo2 is great the gameplay is brilliant, I will more than likely buy 360 when halo3 comes out aswell.
I don't care and never have cared about processors or prices or looks of a console I only ever care about the quality of the games and the game play and no other game is close to halo2 except bamb jack obviously.

I gotta admit that I actually do get a bit caught up in the graphics of a system but ultimately it does come down to the games.
The thing that is bullshit about the 360 and PS3 is that you NEED to have an HD tv to even make it worth while.....otherwise the improvement in graphics is only marginal on standard PAL and NTSC tvs......so you have to dish out $400 for the system, $60 for a game and then $1000-$1500 for a new TV.......so you're looking at right around $2000 to play games that only look better but aren't actually better.

I don't think it's all hype... maybe 5%.
Look at it on paper:
PS3 spec much more impressive than 360.PS3 released about 6 months after 360 – big advantage in many ways.
PS3 preview movies more impressive than 360's.

I played the 360 at target this weekend....I was very, very impressed with the Call of Duty 2 graphics and gameplay (demo), but i will indeed be waiting for the PS3

You HAVE bought into the hype.....I'm not saying that you are retarded or anything, because most people buy into the hype...it just tastes so good when it hits your lips...
...almost all of the preview clips out there for PS3 right now aren't actual gameplay and, I almost never trust those clips (for any system) anyway, because......1) its not a true representation (even if it is "actual gameplay") because its not running on the console on a TV in front of you and 2) most of the clips, even if they are actual gameplay are engineered to provde the best possible representation of the game........think about, those clips are marketing for the game......they can either make or break a game, so obviously a lot of time and energy is put into making sure those clips stand up to the scrutiny the gaming community provides.....companies are betting millions on it.
When all is said and done it does come down to the quality of games. BUT when it comes to graphics on the 360 vs PS3.....side by side (f the specs) they will look pretty similar. I guarantee that if you have the same exact sports game running on a PS3 and then on a 360 (on the same exact model tv) that there will be little to know difference.

This is clearly Microsoft's thinking hence a rushed launch and no-doubt semi-orchestrated shortage of consoles.
