It's clearly says God created the " lights in the firmament of the heaven" (stars, i.e. the rest of the universe) on the fourth day. A day after the Earth was apparently created. It does matter, it illustrates the failure derived from literal interpretation.

the bible can be wrong in a alot of ways but dismissing it based on that is wrong aswell, you should not forget it's inherant purpose to provide comfort and a path for people in need.

His claims were and still are inflamatory, and mutually exclusive. If the bible is wrong, then it shouldn't be read at all and it's been the cause of many useless lives lost.

try not to mix the bible up with Jesus and Jesus up with chaos. the bible shouldn't be seen as wrong or right, it's up down left and right...people do it by hand

- Exodus 20:5What that's all saying is that God (the supreme one in The Bible who's name is Jehovah) is rather selfish... he is VERY exacting in how you serve him. That reference above was referring to idol worship... but got to the point that God exacts exclusive devotion...
... so wadafa... you're right in your statement about Jesus coming to divide... it was his duty to teach and lay the foundation for our learning... then die as a ransom .. to make things right.
The Bible makes it clear that serving God isn't easy - but if you're going to serve him & reap the rewards... you gotta follow the rules layed out - and that of course is for no else to decide upon but God.

Wow. Where do I begin? Ok, no particular order...
First, I'm currently involved in an in-depth study of the reliability and accuracy of the NT documents, above any other historical volumes. This study also exposes the errors of the recent Jesus-Seminar fad of revisionist history regarding the person and work of Christ. Here's the bottom line: anyone who actually takes the time to do an honest study of the subject will have no choice but to conclude that Christ is who he said he was - God in the flesh. If you study the dating of the manuscripts in relationship to the time of Christ and if you understand the process in even a cursory manner, you know that there was no way for legend to have found it's way in the closed canon of scripture which we call the New Testament. Simply not possible.
On the deity of Christ and the heresy of Jehovah's Witnesses:
JW's consistently misrepresent the Biblical teaching of the nature of Christ. The JW at your door has been given the wrong information, by the Watchtower who feeds them their data.
The NT clearly teaches that Christ was 100% human AND 100% divine. Here just a few of the numerous references to Christ's deity:
John 1:1:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Colossians 2:9:
"For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form"
Titus 2:13:
"while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ..."
Colossians 1:16:
"For by him [Christ] all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
Hebrews 1:
"But about the Son he says,
"Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever,
and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom."2 Peter 1:1:
"Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ."
John 20:28:
"Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!""

And also, keep in mind that Christ receives worship numerous times throughout the NT. Yet the Bible is clear that God and only God is receive to worship.
