i grew up as a navy brat and lived on military bases all growing up. typically the husband was the one in the military (about 3/4 to 2/3 of the time), but I think that's falling to the wayside.
In high school, every year more and more girls were getting involved in ROTC and continuing on after high school.

*coughs up a hair ball cheers buddy, buddy ? I can't see you.... where are you? stop kicking me.

kelpie, in answer to your question earlier in this thread the answer would depend no what we were fighting for.
I'd never join the army as a career as its wayyy too disciplined for me and fuck getting up at 5am to go for pointless 20 mile jogs or field exercises!
I couldnt see any armies calling up civilians like they did in the 1st and 2nd World Wars as thats not the way wars are fought anymore. People arent used as cannonfodder these days as much as they used to.
If it did happen though and i AGREED with the reason we were fighting (i.e - to stop another nutter like Hitler taking over our nation) (and especially if i had kids id be up for protecting their future) then yeah id join up.
BUT if it was just our PrimeMinister acting on a whim or sooking up the US presidents arse in agreeing to go to war just to win another oilrich nation then nop, they can go fuck themselves.
Makes me sad to think that so many UK and US soldiers have died for money and oil rather than honour and freedom. (and im sure it was the latter 2 were the reasons they joined the forces).

of course war is a male pursuit
women make babies, not fight fucking wars
- chossy0
I fought a war with a woman once, we stopped going out shortly afterwards.

(Nov 29 05, 09:04)agreed mate, believe me :)

I would put it to you that people in UK / US joined the army for a paycheck however the warriors they fight against are not fighting for a paycheck...............
- kelpie0
you're right of course - but I think most would (perhaps stupidly), assume they had the moral high ground when asked to fight. The second part of what you said is very very true, in other words it's a war that can't be won. Not by us anyway.
- kelpie0
anyway - I'm off home now people and chossy, be well all :D
- chossy0
See ya buddy buddy bud bud :D
- paraselene0
bye kelpie even though we all know that you're skivving off work early. pfft.

has anyone pointed out the whole grenade throwing thing? i mean... they throw like.... girls. (girls do).
how are they going to launch a grenade 60 yards? they throw it 5 feet and the whole platoon is sent running for cover.
heh heh.
