Ive been doing freelance for a while now and have come to the point when I really should have a company name as it sounds more professional when doing pitches for big companies.
I dont ever normally have a problem coming up with names for other peoples companies but when its your own its different. I seem to go around in circles with the names I like.
Any suggestions on how to come up with the name that fits from those of you who have been there, done that?
thanks

Something easy to remember.
If ur a freelancer, some part of your actual name, makes it easier for someone to remember you and your company name.
Add what you do to your name somehow. (ie. your name is dan and you design...dandesign)...sounds corny but you'll remember it.
If it ain't eassy to remember, you'll have ppl asking "Anyone here on NT remember that company that did this, can't remember the name"...

i just went through this and it was a complete bear.
try this:
i had a piece of paper on which i kept jotting ideas down. when i went back to that list over the weekend i saw the fourth thing i'd written (don't even remember coming up with it) and said, 'yes, sir. that's it.'
check your local laws, etc. for example, in PA you should register a ficticious name with the state.

regarding registering the name, this is a good guide:

Try not to force it. I have thought of some various names I liked when I wasn't really trying. For instance you could be reading a book or listening to the radio and hear an oddly interesting combination of words. It seems like the more you force it the more difficult it is.
