How do you organise your files, projects etc.
Do you file them away alphabetically or numerically ie: give each job a number??
Basically what works best for you?

Create a A-L folder, and a M-Z folder.

Everything is in a folder. I have my media stuff in alphabetical order, but not anything else. Not yet, anyway. But yeah, I prefer to have each project in a folder and more folders for certain things within that folder, but not too complicated so that I can't find the root folder.

Organise alphabetically by client name and assign each job a job number that is also the invoice number to help keep track. Also, dont start your numbers at zero - it looks too new and inexperienced. Start at something like 00500 and go from there.

Whatabout archiving jobs
all the paper bits I mean?Do you archive this alphabetically or give it a job number?
Say you were doing an advert and a flyer for the same client in a given week would you number each job differently?

I used to use Version and Process control. IBM ClearCase, not no mo'

I use Docket numbers for each client NAME-0102 (Month Year)
Makes life easy when dealing with many clients, or multiple jobs on one docket.

Create a A-L and a M-Z folder on your desktop.
Then say your client is joeschmoe, then create a joeschmoe folder and put it in the A-L folder.
Then create another folder and give it a job number like JS001, and place that within the joeschmoe folder.
I found this to be the most efficient way.For archiving, burn dvds per client. Like joeschoe dvd one would be called js_01_2005. The next dvd would be called js_02_2005
This way, you can retrieve your files per client and date. Also print your disc log, and organize them in a 3 ring binder. There's no f*cken better way man.
Also, if you want to organize your client art files, create a Art(A-L) and a Art(M-Z) folder on your desktop. Within these folder, create a subfolder per clients name. Then create 2 sets of folder within for raster images and logos eps art.
