So Im a college student/web designer thats always worked with PCs, and am planning to make the move, and buy a Mac Mini in about a month.
Is there anything from your experience that I should know before I buy a Mac Mini? anything I should look out for? Is it stable enough to run Photoshop and Illustrator at the same time without being buggy?

why would want a mac when u have apc?
just stay with pc if you are student.
no need to mac it

Dinky speaketh the truth.

that money can be spent to upgrade yr pc. unless your school is mostly pc....

i switched to Macs, cant go back to PC now.
Mac minis are just fine.. the only thing you need to do is upgrade the ram to atleast 1 gig.
Personally i would pay the extra few 100 and get a G5 imac

Mac's going to Intel chips next year, making everything they have obsolete. Save your money and wait for the switch or stick with PC.
- same0
since you dont have the software, i would wait because when the new intel macs come out.. youl have to get all new software anyway.

Agreed.
I had a 4 yr old pc, and own a powerbook g4 , had to make a call in the last week on what I was gonna do in terms of my desktop and I built a nice quite affordable dual core pc and its running real smooth.

Why would the Intel chip change require all the Apple people to buy new software?
- bassik0
I second that Mimio.
Aren't intel just going to be making the chips?> Just like the existing ones are made by IBM, and the G4's by Motorola etc etc. The chipset's shouldn't change the operation system dramatically.
- MrDinky0
intel chip doesnt mean you can run pc apps.
you still gotta buy mac apps..
its just processor difference.
its like linux running on pc. with different type of software..
- NegativeSpace0
I think what Greedo might have meant was that since OSX needs to support x86 processor's now (Intel/Amd) that anyone who wanted to build a pc could in fact put the mac os on a pc system,. just like what people are doing now with the version that leaked around the net. Allowing you to avoid apples rip off hardware prices :)

actually, im talking about mac software created for the IBM chipset. It will not work with the new intel macs

what dinky first said
avoid mac like the plague, unless you're into Big Macs for $2.99.

PC it up!

wow, it seems like theres a lot more people against the macs here. I figured that there would be a lot of designers here who would be petting their macs every 5 seconds.
I guess, ill have to rethink my gaming plan now.
- RoyBoy0
Petting Macs, i kick mine!!
- NegativeSpace0
For some reason Im thinking that had it not been a sunday there would of been alot more mac die hards in here.
- RoyBoy0
I'm just a little mac-ked out!
I think it comes down to value for money.

ahem...
sorry, i have to be the voice of reason here.
zoobie, don't listen to these guys. you'll be so much better off (less hassle, less downtime, far better user experience) with a mac.
the mini is probably a bit underpowered I'd say, but the imac will definitely do you fine.
