hang on.. i never asked anyone what they charge. that's none of my business.
i asked how your freelance rates 'compare' to contract.. and its all in reference to the original question of hours / month. the $$$ amount is not important.
and i replied to that Q: about +30% or 40% for freelance.

but judging by the 200+ hr responses here, i'm starting to think i should be a little more relaxed with my stopwatch and bill out more hours per project.
i tend to lose track of and not bill time on the phone, emails etc etc.
anymore 'hours / month' replies would be appreciated.

do you guys charge hourly or daily or by the job?
:)
e-pill
(Oct 26 05, 13:12)all of the above.
usually hourly.. sometimes by the job (when its to my advantage)... and a few instances where a day rate was appropriate.

(Oct 26 05, 12:32)my rates are all over the map based on project & client, but definitely more for freelance vs contract... about + 30%-40%.

i put about 180hrs on contract and 60hrs on freelance clients. i am young so i figured i'd better be more aggressive and stop acting like a dometicated dog.

(Oct 26 05, 11:44)ok so how do your contract and freelance rates compare? if you don't mind me asking :)
- tkmeister0
i pay a lot more than $1200 on rent. but i like where i live now. very comfortable and i am saving just fine.
epill,
your rent is 1200, let's say another 1000 for food and play. then you spend about 1k on smoking? :P
- e-pill0
tk you can always move down the hall from me and rake in a better lifestyle!!!
i dont know what your rent is currently but im sure its lots more than $1150-$1200 per month
-on average per month with everything i spend my totals come around $3500 per month, i need to make double that in order to save.
yes nyc is craazy expensive! but currently i am not longer takingthe backseat with my life and i wont settle for anything less!!!
