i dunno if you tried this but have you reset the PRAM on the lappy? I know when my powerbook didn't want to start up it worked.

i got it to work again
i got rid of my partition and reformatted and wrote zeros.. and 8 times format random data format.

I have tried two different versions of the software. No go!!! A friend experienced the same problem with his PowerMac. It took a number of reformatting exercises and then the software somehow worked. Apple?! I prefer Grapes!!
