i know shit about maci dont know what i should do..

Was it running perfectly fine after the memory upgrade?
Can you boot up with your OS install cd?
- madirish0
1. shut down powerbook
2. turn on another mac
3. plug firewire cable into both machines
4. hold down "t" key on powerbook and turn on powerbook (keep finger on t the entire time until blue screen w/ firewire icon appears)
5. go over to "good" computer and look for powerbook drive on desktop
6. try to copy files/data from powerbook to good computer.good luck...

also, try removing the RAM and then restrating the powerbook. do this after you try and Target Mode mount it.
could be bad RAM. it happens.

it was working perfectly fine till last night.
it started to stall on programs. than it stalled more.. as i rebooted, it took a bit longer and longer to reboot and now, it just holds on the apple screen. i dont get the question mark nor the loading icon.
just apple.
i can boot up from the install cd yes.
my machine has been the curse of my life. its been running so damn slow but nothing like this. it never stalled like this before

bad RAM?
how does it effect it?
- vnotion0
Gives it food poisoning
- madirish0
if the RAM is bad, it can not bee recognized by the CPU and it will stall on start up. i have had it happen on Mac, PC, serers, ect. if you can, try pulling ou the RAM you installed and start it up. it will not hurt anything.

yeah i will try that also, take out ram and reinstall..
now only if i knew where the ram was..
- tkmeister0
is that the same machine you constantly had a problem with?
dude, you need to get a new machine. i think i am gonna wait another year though.

man i only had this shit for year and half, i hate this machine
fuck its a money pit it doesnt stop sucking
- madirish0
it is on the bottom (if a new aluminum PB), under the keyboard (if an older Ti one).
you will need a #8 torx i belive to get the panel off on the bottom of the machine. once off, just release the tabs on either side and remove. button it back up and restart.

throw it at steve jobs

Dinky...DO NOT PULL OUT THE RAM YOURSELF!
if you do, you will make any possibilities of having a registered Mac Tech work on your puter ever again.
take it to a registered mac tec.
:)

no problem man. i hate to see people w. such great work get hung up by things like this.
you can take it back and they should definitly deal with it for you. my hope is it is something topical and not a deep problem. in the meantime though, try mounting it and pulling data off- you can never be too carful about backing shit up.
- tkmeister0
take it to the store. it'll save your time and frustration.
i did exactly that. i can't be bothered by testing and trying to figure out. fuck it. time is money.
