alright, i just finished my first official freelance project and now i need to put an invoice together. i would rather create my own invoice template using InDesign rather than a program or online service that generates them.
can anyone share with me or direct me to some example web design invoices? I've picked up the Graphics Artists Guild Handbook which has an example, but would like to see others as well.
Thanks so much

It's simply a case of putting down what you have done with the price underneath.
Put in some detail so there is less chance of any dispute, but don't go mad and it end up taking you longer than it took to do the job!

alright so i guess all those terms and conditions and rights transfered and shit are pretty much not needed?
just keep it plain and simple...

Just use your letterhead. If you don't have letterhead then create one quickly. Your name and contact details at the top of the page will do fine.
In terms of content of the invoice, you should include:
• The dates you worked on the project
• What the work was (eg print design(
• How much you are charging (and if you are charging per hour, per day then a breakdown of how many hours)
• You can also include a job number eg 0001. This is useful when you start doing more work. It also helps you file projects for your archive and records.
ps don't be embarassed about numbering your first job!
hope that helps

important to include the deelivery schedule (as this can be lost in all the gumf, and be argued about)
its usually better practice to agree the payment and workload prior to producing an invoice, then there is no arguing.
otherwise, do as they said above, all you need is a contact address (must include street etc) and all the rest (tel. no & email) PLUS the details about the job, ammount, date and payment terms (28 days...)
No need to even sign it.
