and transitions are a bit choppy, even on my dual g4 1.25 ghz

your preloader couldbe more organic, no pun intneded, it's juts a straight line, maybe make it crawl differently.
I think your site will do what you want it to do, which is effeciently show your work

A little suggestion is to enhance the visibility of how many images are in a project.
Actually the grey button seems a comment /something not part of the interface.

like it. a lot. A few things:
- your contact and CV download ROLLOVER should be the same width. Currently CONTACT rollover is a bit shorter on the left side.
- When u get into one of your projects in the middle column: it's not so easy to find the next button, I'd make that stand out a bit more. Maybe make it that lime green color or something.
- I'd kill the horizontal dashed line at the top of the page. It will make your design a lot cleaner and balanced. Plus its a bit antialiased.
- White space is good if it serves a purpose aesthetically and functionally. Right now you have a ton of white space in the top left hand corner of the page: it doesn't serve a purpose and it doesn't make your page look any better. I'd put something up there to balance the page out. (Maybe your http logo, maybe another illustration.)
- Not so crazy about the lowercase "f"'s used in that pixel font. Pretty hard to read.
- When you click on a project, the fades from white could be a bit smoother. Personally, I'd take the fades out altohgether.
- Some kind of audio or button sounds would be nice. Something really subtle though.
- The section titles (info, project, and showcase) could be a bit larger in font size.

It is nice. You can't really go wrong just displaying your work in that simple layout. I have one really similar I use to show employers. Project links on the right side info on the left, screens in the middle.
Nice work too.
It took to long to load in the beginning imo. Are you loading each work sample set individually? Maybe you shouldn't bother with the coming soon rollovers until they are up. It is just a waste of effort for the user.

It looks nice.
I wouldn't preload the whole thing up front. It took a bit of time to load, and if you're using this to get work, some people might bail before it's done.
Also, I think a lot of this could have been accomplished without flash thus speeding up the load.
Good work though ... nice and clean.
