have you tried making a poopie in the dog's presence?
might break the tension.

this thread is about house-breaking a dog, not monday morning project meetings.

read the 'i pee sitting down' thread to him.
if nothing else, he'll feel superior.

treat your dog like a human and
your dog will treat you
like a dog.

crate training is the way to go, or they have special pads that you lay down that makes them want to go on it. I've got a puppy to. He's definitely learning. We are training him to ring a bell when he has to go too. Put the bell near the door and every time you take him outside, make him lick peanut butter or cheese off of the bell. It will become a habit.

dbloc- if I'm training this dog to lick peanut butter or cheese off of something, it sure as hell won't be a bell

o ya. don't look at the dog when he's pooping. My dog is in obedience classes right now and the guy said that if you walk them in circles it makes them want to go. You have to act like you are out there to go to, so just mind your own business and act like you are looking for a spot.

ha haa.

You could always hold a gun to it's head, no bullets, and pull the trigger, just like they did to Chris Moltisanti on the lake dock.

crate train (no more than a couple of hours at a time) and then send him outside for a long enough period of time for him to do his business.
you don't have to watch him do it...you'll know if he's gone or not :)

you don't have to watch him do it...you'll know if he's gone or not by smelling his anus when he comes back in :)

our dog rings a bell to go out...so the wind chime solution isn't far fetched at all!

i taught my cat to crap in my fiance's shoes and pillowcases.
one of lifes little pleasures. watching her lay her beautiful little head down at night to sleep right in a big pile of crap.
ahhhh....

crate train or make sure to stay around them...
I got a 3yr. old dog from the pound six months ago.
I scolded her when she went inside and led her by the collar to the door. It only took her two times to figure it out.
After two months your dog will be completely different, give it time to adjust.
One thing is for sure:
Positive reinfocement works 10000% better than negative. Try to understand what the dog is trying to tell you.

I'm dying to one day teach a cat to use the human toilet.

I know a guy who trained his cat to use the toilet. It just seemed weird to me. Convenient but weird.

take the dog in the car for a ride and go drive VERY slowly to the place where you rescued it from.
he/she will obey anything after that!
