i went to the march in london yesterday. the British position is becoming incresingly untenable. It's just gonna get worse. If quagmire is an inappropriate metaphor, then quick sand is more appropriate The more they struggle, the worse it gets. Haha!

"what were they protesting about ?"
About how they would like to leave the Iraqi people in a lurch like in "91.
"Haha"
- ********0
I don't think it's leaving the Iraqi people in the lurch when they are actually fighting to get rid of you. The only people who seem to want this "coalition" to stay are the Kurds in the north. But what the fuck do they care? They got autonomy, security, AND oil.

but i'm sorry, i forgot the "white man's burden". You have to civilise these people even if they don't want you to. Daddy knows best eh?
- mrdobolina0
how you doing kuz? Havent talked to you in a bit.
- ********0
hey dobs! i'm excellent my man. keeping on the straight and narrow :)
how's life treating ya? noticed your print exchange thing is going from strength to strength - how about shooting one my way huh?
:P
- Cactus0
"only the Kurds" huh...Quite a sweeping generalization Kuz. I think the reality is somewhat more nuanced than that and you know it.
"White Man's Burden"? Could international solidarity be a reason for helping the people of Iraq? And presume to call yourself a socialist.
- mrdobolina0
we didnt go there to liberate the iraqis, we went there because saddam had weapons that were threatening your ability to watch the NFL.
- mrdobolina0
thanks kuz.
I will definitely send one of the next batch your way.
I been ok, I was supposed to go out with this girl for brunch today, but I think I got cold-dissed.

Actually Cactus of all the surveys and reports i've read, it seems to indicate that yes, indeed it is the majority of Kurds who are in favour of coalition forces to stay and who believe the US liberated their country. Reports i've studied from the Brookings institute (a pretty right-winng think tank by the way) and BBC News indicate things such as this:
[While not indicated in the published survey results, according to the March 16 BBC News report, “only one in three Iraqi Arabs believed their country was liberated” by the US-led invasion, “compared to four out of five Kurds”.]
and:
[When asked “who should take care” of “regaining public security in the country”, 7.3% named the USA, 5.3% named the “Coalition Forces” and 4.9% named the US-dominated Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA). Just over 50% named either “Iraq”, an “Iraqi government” or the “Iraqi people”, while 12% named the Iraqi “army/police/ministry of interior”.]
even in the Kurdish areas, there is little support for the "coalition"
[When asked if they oppose or support the “presence of Coalition Forces in Iraq”, 50.9% said they were opposed, while 39.5% said they supported their presence. Two-thirds of the respondents said they had little or no confidence in the US and British occupation forces. Just over 62% expressed little or no confidence in the CPA.]
I wont tell you the percentage of Shia and Sunni arabs who want the coalition out, but i ahve to say, it doesn't make present reading for the US.
For information, please check:

As you can see from the website, and increasing worsening attitude to the occupation. There are links on the site to more thorough opinion polls, but i have to warn you - the more recent polls make for grim reading
:)

Cactus
(Sep 25 05, 09:01)hello. I do not call myself a socialist.
And i'm all in favour of helping the iraqi people through international solidarity. But forgive me if i think the United States cajoling a group of right-wing governments and those acting out of self interest in order to succur a superpower, does not make for international solidarity.
Is it just me, or do you have this knack of talking like a complete cunt cactus?
:)
