Just worked a 14 hour day, no lunch, left work at 10pm and went to a gig by myself (King Biscuit Time - ex Beta Band). Had quite a few drinks on an empty stomach and now I'm sitting in a cold, empty flat because my girlfriend and I split last Thursday after nine years together.
I'm now tucking into a nice bottle of BNJ Whisky from Sunny Leith. I can't see me doing much work tomorrow.
Anyone have any words of wisdom or good links that'll cheer me up/inspire me?

That's a kick in the pants. No way of working things out with the girlfriend?
btw. Were you the one that was thinking of moving to Canada?
Go easy on the Whiskey eh.

"...split last Thursday after nine years together."
fuck. you're relived, sad, tired?
be okay, anyway.

I apologize, my original post seemed relatively optimistic. I certainly didn't mean it to be :(
Yup. Canada dreams now shattered, as are all the others.

Focus on the positive. Put on some loud music. Pour another drink...

It may seem trite...but things could be much much worse. You could be trapped in some sort of corporate fantasy vacation thing that lasts for 4-5 years and only involves horrible things being done to you by people you used to love. Move on and find some new stuff and people.

Today was probably the worst day so far. I feel like I'm in limbo, like it's not real... until I come home. Been with her for 1/3 of my life. All my future plans included her, always have. Just feel so lost now.

Best bet is to not spend too much time on your own. You'll end up thinking too much --and possibly drinking too much.
Keep yourself occupied, takes time. Well atleast that's what I have found.
Life is sweet, remember that
one.

holy crap, you're 27 and you had a girlfriend for 9 yrs? you need to go out and have fun. go get laid and stop listening to depressing music. these are the first steps.
- Point50
no doubt. do not hang out alone. kick it with friends, go to the mall, peep all the hot girls everywhere. let your testosterone distract you. let fun keep busy. otherwise you will dwell... and sink. i can't honestly tell you to stop drinking. it was my therapy when i went through a similar situation. but i can say be careful with it.
come out to vegas. we'll take care of your blues any given day.

Doesn't work that way though, does it?
People say to me "Hey! At least you weren't married!" Like that matters. One piece of paper added to a pile of others.
It's the next few months of my life unravelling before my first Christmas without her in nine years.
And it was pretty close to 1/3 of my life - I'm 30.
