people tell you to move on because they don't want to deal with your pain. fuck that. I'd be at wits end for quite a while, too. The part of you that was with her, which was a big part, has died.

Trust me I know where you're coming from. I was married for that long with three kids. All I can say is keep yourself occupied. I took off of work for a few days drove straight to the Grand Canyon and stood on the edge for a few hours gazing at it.
Get out of your current environment and go somewhere you've never been before. Visit friends and family. Do something fun.

d5ive, I work near a hill in the centre of the city with a good view of the skyline and for a while I was scanning the horizon for tall buildings before I thought "What the fuck am I doing?"
"There's cliffs only half a mile away!"
Frightening when you think that way though.

these guys are right, I was in a seven year relationship and have never been the same since.
let me just say, watch it with the drinking.

She's got no NT access at the moment, otherwise I wouldn't be here. Hey, this might just be the first NT breakup. Like that's a claim to fame.

Listen, thanks guys, you're all helping. It'll take a long time to heal though.

how does a 9 year relationship end?
i thought once you go that far it's basically for life
- 5timuli0
So did I scarabin but she made her feelings clear. It had been threatening for a while but I tried and failed.

There's no better feeling than freedom.
I'm enjoying mine... and because of that, i found somebody else who's 10,000 times better and makes me 5 times happier.
The silver linging is there. Open your eyes! You got the most amazing gift -- the rest of your life without somebody who will resent and begin to hate you. Cheers!

seems like a lot of people i know are recently ending really long relationships 4 years +.
It's hard to imagine spending all that time and never getting married. Sometimes I really wonder if it's necessary to wait THAT long. I think for women, it makes it worse, not better.
- d5ive0
I didn't mean it that way. Not suicidale stuff. just perspective. Sorry.

We'd always agreed it wasn't a necessity to get married, just another piece of paper. But we had planned to do it soon after we emigrated to Canada. (Not so) funny how things change.

btw, it is your responsibility as a man to listen to the ultimate guy's breakup song now.

No matter what any woman says -- she wants to do the wedding thing. Any female that says differently is lying to herself.

(Sep 21 05, 16:37)I really think a lot of girls just tell guys what they want to hear -- and deny themselves what they really want. Just say it "I want kids and I want marriage"
It's one of those things. Instincts, you can only suppress it for so long.
If girls don't eventually get the normal deal that they always want, it manifests into other problems.
The other thing girls try to do but it'll never work, is living with their man like they're best friends and roommates -- but really they want a romantic lover.

This song's been kind of appropriate so far...
