(Sep 6 05, 12:55)Poor analogy. That would be my wife. Very personal and my family. The advisor has how many persons working under them? I wonder.

Yes he sucks. Preaching to the choir? It's nice to know that that choir supports the preacher. If someone wants to speak, let them speak.
Yes you do have the right to comment... and so do they.

Hey, Cactus man, still waiting on your answers to your own questions:
And why weren't all those parked school buses not used to evacuate the people left stranded in the city? In addition, why the great disparity of misery and lawlessness in Mississippi and Louisiana when in fact Mississippi bore the brunt of the hurricane?
What's the answers, bro?

My dear little prickly friend, you have mistaken me for a "liberal". I most assuredly am not. I could care less if abortion is protected by federal law. I have a carry permit, and enjoy an afternoon at the shooting range. I eat red meat. I think state mandated laws telling me I should wear a seat belt and not talk on my cel phone are un-American.
I don't like my religion chocalate getting into my state peanut butter, and I like my press free, shrill and annoying.
I expect government to be as small as neccessary.
But I do expect it to work. And I don't expect the politicians per se to be all that good, but I expect the professional mandarins, aka beauracrats, to do a professional and humane job at what they do.
America, like any nation in history has crappy politicians. Selfish, self-serving. narcisstic politicians of all idealogical stripes.
What American also had was a highly competent, professional and elite beauracrats. We had history's best honorable beauracrats People who did the middling little jobs with something approaching honor and a code of standards.
It's these middle men that put men on the moon, that won the cold war, that defeated nazism, built the suburbs, and so on and so forth. That made sure taxes got paid, money went into the coffers, and that old people and the poorest among us could keep from starving, that forests stayed green, that if you needed a million armed men and the supplies they needed to show up anywhere on the earth, dammit, it got there.
The modern Republican party has completely and utterly destroyed America'sgovernmental middle management. No one who wasn't a party liner was sacked. If you pointed out incompetence or waste, you were sacked. If you didn't drink the Koolaid - on 9/11, on Iraq, on Supreme Court Justices, on Haliburton, etc. - you were sacked.
The most vital force that America had - a trustworthy level of middle managers who actually gave a shit to do stuff by the book regardless of who was in charge, Repub;lican or Democrat - is now completely raped and gone.
Corruption in government and party politics and pork? DOesn't matter whose in charge - but thos emiddle managers, man they wer ethe ones that mattered. And Bush fucked them all. I can get you plenty of resources - but here's a few names fo ryou Shinseki, Plame, Bunnantine Greenhouse, god..so many.
And in there place we get miserable failed Arabian Horse Society attorneys who were fired form their previous gigs because of ethical improprieties. Because they "support" and fund raise for the Party.
