In my opinion its just those cold colors. and I would also try to integrated some of her work in the design...good work

i thik that's a bit better. but now your logo (TO ME) looks too much like the other type.
i'd just stop now - say that's one concept. now pick a new colour/font and start again. lose the boxes altogether. serif? maybe that logo needs to be in a classic old baskerville/caslon. give it some character.

Kill that color. I know you hate white....but you will have to use more....or integrate images. Where is this ladies work. That is what I want to see. I really think using large images, or chunks of images that feature her "log" home work would be interetsing.

You're asleep by now, I know... but I got all jazzed, thinking of the base components of log building, the simple elements that build to a whole... it risks hookiness right out of the gate, but think of that simple notion when developing the base components of the site... right now the design is trite, all based on little webbish boxes that don't connect, don't build... what of having the basic plates exchange and build different tensions, allowances for light, areas for dark... man, i am becoming inarticulate, but there is something in a wall! A wall built of warm wood!

I can play like the others.Cold color scheme, predictable layout and image use. It looks like the site for a slightly reformed goth band.

hey nic,
yea, talking to my mom about this, it seems that she wants it to really be classy and make a big statement about her... she wants to be able to possibly expand her business...I wouldnt mind seeing a more dynamic site...
anyway man, love to see some more ideas. Ill be the back link between you and her.
