Over the weekend I overheard a few people on the bus b*tching about the price of gas... so I thought I would put things into perspective for them seeing as how they both had starbucks coffee in their hands.
I'm going to call this "Perspective hour with Garett" for all of you.
Price of Gas in St.Louis as of Sunday.
$2.98 a gallon (89 octane)
Ok. Bitch about this. If there are 128oz. in a gallon.
RedBull. $1.99 for 8.3oz. =
$30.69 a gallonA 'tall' Starbucks coffee. $1.79 for 8oz. =
$28.64 a gallonA large Espresso at Caribou Coffee. $3.89 for 20oz. =
$24.89 a gallonAfter I told them some rounded guestimate numbers they seemed to shut their mouth. What else could I have mentioned cause it was quite fun seeing the look on their face?

I don't drink any coffee or any beverage as many times as my parents buy gas (no, I don't have a car, but I do help pay sometimes). It's high, period.

sure gas may be more expensive in europe but the public transportation system is way more developed. i cannot take a bus or train to work for example. i have to drive.

Well, many people buy at least 2 cups of coffee per day, whereas they put gas less than that.

I spend $75 a week on gas. With insurence i'm at about $500 a month to get to work.
I remember like 5 years ago I could get gas for 58 cents a litre, it's about $1.04 now in Toronto.
If I could cycle to work, I totally would.

I take the bus to both school and work. To get to school it's about 45 minutes, and to work it's about 1 hour. It's really not that bad, considering both places are on the opposite sides of where I live. The bus system here is awesome.

I could get into how many miles per gallon most cars average and that on average consumers fill up once every 1.5-2 weeks but I won't cause I was illustrating a point.
