"Gas" is at it's most exoensive in the UK at the moment. But yet again the oil companies announce record profits.

garretwest,
I see what you're getting at...
But the cost of coffee at Starbucks, Caribou, etc. doesn't go up radically over time.
The cost of gas, however, is, and that is a major problem. Just because a gallon of coffee would is like 20X the price of a gallon of gas doesn't at all mean people should shut up and stop complaining about gas prices.
It's out of control, and the solution is not to lower gas prices, the solution is for everyone in Washington to get off their collective asses and demand that we put R&D into non-polluting fuels into overdrive. Like, now.
But what they'll do now is once summer is over, gas will get cheaper again, but still be higher than the same time last year, and people will say "Oh, so happy gas isn't what it was over the summer." but they will be unable to realize they are still paying way higher than normal.
I can remember 4-5 years ago driving out of my way to buy gas for $1.19 at a station near my Mom's house. So glad I don't have a car now.

You don't think things through before you type do you?

(Aug 22 05, 09:44)garett, please. you're the one always complaining about people lashing out at other people on a personal level and saying that it's childish. you should think before you type. better yet, think before you think. to answer your question, i used to walk or take the bus if it was really rainy but now i take a train. my bike was stolen, so i'm saving up to buy another one.

i don't own a car but i want one. i'd probably buy a cheap fuel efficient civic.

OMG soda. If the average commute time is 2hrs, how the FUCK is someone supposed to bike to work.

(Aug 22 05, 09:44)yep you are right.
I really should think before I respond to something you post.

mrdobs, living closer to work simply is not an option for most people. Either housing is far to expensive (New York) or far too shitty (most med. size towns) to make it an option in the U.S.

I live in an urban area, like others you can just take the metro, bus or walk really. I find that convenient and I just don't need one or want one right now. Although, it also has to do with the fact that I'm a total DRUNK, and I don't want to kill myself or anyone else.
Be honest with you, after all the costs of insurance and gasoline it enables me to afford a nice apartment.

True that fate.
Housing for a family of 4 in NY for instance is astronomical. And, not eveyone wants to live downtown. Their only choice IS to commute.
I take the bus. It's only a 20 minute ride. The whole point of this thread was to say I got a big kick out of these two guys in expensive suits holding two large cups of Starbucks coffee, probably both driving cars that get below 20mpg were bitching about gas. That's all.
I'm off to lunch. Hopefully NT cools down in the meantime.
Now I remember why I left this place.

rich people are fucking cheap bastards. i'm poor and tip very well.
hahahha

Some people need cars, they aren't along buslines and other forms of transpo. Especially in USA. It's way too damn big

(Aug 22 05, 09:54)lol. can you remember why you came here in the first place? i mean, it was a whole six weeks ago...
- Fidget-design0
I don't come here that often, usually for a bit of down time.
But this bloke Garrett West says some really stupid shit. It sounds like he tries to impress all the time.
p.s when did he ever leave?
- mg330
Isn't anyone interested in helping me tell Washington to get off their asses and invest some R&D cashola in solar powered cars?
LOL
