Sorry i didn't know you were using swift 3d, good luck. maybe you could render a version which is all black & white then use it as a alpha channel above the clip you want masked?
- sajets_v20
yep, do send it and i'll have look at it because using other layer as alpha is one very good tool in AE so you'll need it in the future anyway.
- Bullitt0
sajets, just sent you the file now, check your mail.
Cheers bud
- sajets_v20
check your mail Bullit
- Bullitt0
cheers mate, still not working though....
- sajets_v20
could you send me a frame from both your original animation and luma matte animation? I'll have a look at them.
- sajets_v20
not in AE file but just 2 picture files.
- Bullitt0
did you get the movie clips?
- sajets_v20
AE project files does not include imported footage. It's like HTML file with all pictures/footage still external. Otherwise the file would be huge. Thats why i said that when you send me your project i can use my own reference files.
So just send me 1 frame from each animation.

Ok ta, sortin it out now
- Bullitt0
For fucks sake!, haha I fixed it, I’m really sorry for troubling you with this chief.
You know what it was? Fuckin OpenGL option. I changed it in the comps advanced settings back to default standard 3d... now it works...
It’s always some simple shit that causes the big problems..I apologize to you all, who have been trying to help me out with this fuck up... back to work, Im a day behind with that.
- sajets_v20
no worries, i have a slow day at work anyway. Good you got it sorted.

Used the trk matt to get rid of the background of an animated 3d object. I now want to add effects to this, is there a way I can do this so the effect will work on this masked movie clip? a way of combineing the 2 maybe to add effects?
- sajets_v20
What kind of an effect do you want to use?
Probably the best and easiest way to combine those 2 layers is to make a new Comp and copy your 2 layers in there. then use that new Comp instead of your 2 layers in original comp and apply effects to that.
Hope i made sense.
