I'll tell you what's bitchin' about it - setting up your entire navigation within the CSS, images and positioning and all.

Have you considered the fact that you don't know how to code. That at after a year of trying and not succeeding, your intellegence level is slightly lower than the average.
Just learn it properly...i even would call into question you knowlege of good table buiding. Dreamweaver doesn't count, in fact its negative points.
Please, do us all a favor and leave the industry.

kelpie, you're doing that thing like the pretty girl does when she tries to act stupid so that the popular boys will like her. for shame! you do so know about css!

There is nothing "clean" about Dreamweaver.
Bloat maybe, like Rosie eating cupcakes.

I'll tell you what I'm eager to learn at the Meyer seminar: Need to know if my single CSS page that is 374 lines long can be whitled down a bit more. That's been much of the trial and error part.
It's only 7K in size, and much of the length is because of the navigation layout.
The code below is repeated for 9 buttons total.a.homebutton {
position: absolute;
top:69px;
left:0px;
background:url("images/navigatio... no-repeat;
width: 58px;
height:17px;
padding: 0px 0px;
border:1px solid #333333;
}a.homebutton:hover {
background:url("images/navigatio... no-repeat;
border-color: #333333;
}

I agree - if you are not good at coding in the first place it's going to be hard. If you can only set up a page with a WYSIWYG (I have that tattoed above my privates, btw) then you don't very well understand actually writing code.
You should be able to code a site by hand on paper if you really know your stuff. Being able to do that would help in understanding CSS.
But the best thing is just looking at other pages. See what people do. How they order their code, how they comply to standards, etc.With CSS & XHTML you should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be able to code pages that validate with the W3C's tools. Always.

parasalene, how do you say your screen name?
Pear-uh-sailing?
Or
Puhda-suleen?

I find it easy too.
Funny thing is I always got tables wrong.
Was it TR then TD or TH or what the fuck!!!
Now-a-days it would take me longer to layout elements with Tables than it would with CSS.
