    I agree - if you are not good at coding in the first place it's going to be hard. If you can only set up a page with a WYSIWYG (I have that tattoed above my privates, btw) then you don't very well understand actually writing code.

    You should be able to code a site by hand on paper if you really know your stuff. Being able to do that would help in understanding CSS.
    But the best thing is just looking at other pages. See what people do. How they order their code, how they comply to standards, etc.

    With CSS & XHTML you should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be able to code pages that validate with the W3C's tools. Always.
