i think if that utility comes up then you need to change your preferences
go into system preferences (that's the switch-like graphic with an apple on it in your dock)
Click on Hardware - CDs & DVDs
Choose "When you insert a blank CD" - "Open Finder"That will make the icon show up in your finder.

When you're in finder the menu at the top right is "help". it's got pretty much everything in it

A little box comes up that says "ask a question"
click in that box
type "burn cd"
click on the top link
click on the blue hypertext link called "Creating CDs and DVDs using the Finder'
