for what it is worth - galloway came back into the chambers very soon after that to defend himself.

come off it people
None if this is carried out in revenge for what ever went on in Iraq or Afghanistan. Jihad was called for by a very small corrupted branch of the Islamic faith many years ago.
Of the many millions of Muslims worldwide, few subscribe to this twisted way of thinking and most continue to practice a very peaceful faith that preaches respect for people from all religions and races. It's not about politics, although they often hide behind it. One of Bin Laden's claims for the attacks on Madrid was revenge for Spain driving out the Moors early in the last millennium.
Their main motive for carrying out this act of mass murder is materialistic greed and self gain , the belief that what they are doing will send them to paradise, milk, honey and virgins. It's a strange form of capitalism when you think about it
Please stop saying stupid things like this was somehow payback for the UK's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hey, don't give me that pathetic "over dead bodies' shit. That's exactly the pathetic rethoric that the Rulers are using on us. The islamic terrorists are some messed up people for real but you know what they're like so don't go and do armed robbery on them. Fucking politics of greed. If I do an armed robbery in Ldn I'll go to fucking jail or they'll just shoot me. If the Corporations do the same it's cool - they don't get to bare the consequences, you do. Blairs fucking wife and kids don't ride the tube. Thay do the crime, you pay for it. And then they use your fear to control you more and sell you more shit and eat more of (your) tax money. Wake up man.

Im so happy to see people thinking like this. Although terrorism isnt correct at all, this is the only way that these people have to fight back agaisnt what has being caused to them for decades by more powerful governments.
Two wrongs certainly dont make a right, but I agree that we must wipe out the problem from the root, being western oppression on poorer countries. Leave them alone, you cant force democracy on someone, let them revolt and create it themselves as did UK and Russia and the states.

Please everyone get off your high horses. The object of yesterday's events is to cause division and mistrust between people, and by fighting like this you are only adding to it.
Have some respect for the dead and for each other.

Wake up man.

Jihad just because of jihad and not because of iraq etc.?
Hellloooooo!!!!! Why doesn't germany get any? France? China?
- lowimpakt0
what about the bombings before iraq?
bali, embassy bombings, previous WTC bombings etc etc
- RustyBadge0
So the negative voices say "Hey! Don't squabble. Don't question. It's BAAAAADDDD, let's just all accept that they are the bad guys and we are the good guys".
Fuck that.
Well said Kau. Someone with their eyes open, their ears open and their brain open.

Vespa: Start pointing a finger to your stupidity!
- lowimpakt0
rustybadge.
look back over the last 2-3 years of political discussion on this site. and then come back
anyway this is bullshit. I hear there is a vigil tonight in trfalgar square. make it a solidarity with all victims of war and poverty etc.
I'll post the time in the other thread when I get it
- vespa0
come off it rusty, you don't know me but i went to all the protests in london before the war, i have my eyes open, my ears open, my brain open AND my heart open.
we in london are dealing with things by remaining calm. analysis will come, but there are still bodies under kings cross station that have yet to be brought up.

Like what you said Ell
The 'terrorists' 'reasons' for the Madrid bomb is pathetic.
So too is Blairs "attacking our freedom' speech.
The intention is to get the public onside to give him a blank cheque when it comes to war/oil/iraq/arms etc.
Let the rumour mill begin!
- rename0
Vespa: why r u dealing with the victims so much at this point?....do you think is disrespectful that we raise our voices because of what happened yesterday?
I think totally the opposite.
- RustyBadge0
Vespa - I'm not saying that everyone should be whipped up into some kind of frenzy, and you're right - now is a time for mourning and solidarity - but the root causes have to be examined.
Should we be policing the world along with America, generally in the pursuit of oil? No.
I don't need to read the last 3 years worth of NT political banter to realise that most creatives here are, by nature, liberal, intelligent and fairly worldly wise.
As I pointed out, I'm not out to cause an argument, but there's nothing wrong with debate or dualism on a forum like this which plays host to so many high-quality readers.
I go back to my original point. US allies will get bloodied noses from time to time - in the form of these incidents - can anyone imagine e.g. Sweden being bombed?
- RustyBadge0
Well said rename.
The worst thing is happening - anyone with an opposing view is being hushed up and now ALL leaders are standing behind Bush. It's fucking terrifying.
I don't particularly like George Galloway as a person - I've followed his career since I lived in Scotland - but at least he had the guts to come out and ask folk to think about the root causes.

(Jul 8 05, 01:52)Okay, didn't realise that.

So there's a vigil in trafalgar tonight? I remember the madrid protests, unbeleivable, millions on the streets. Felt VERY good being there. Should be very emotional...

vespa
(Jul 8 05, 02:11)Well said vespa - keeping calm seems to be the major quality of everyone who had the misfortune to be caught up in yesterdays attack.
There are so many rumours and speculation. Which tends to cause disagreements and in turn friction.
I see this a criminal act commited by individuals who should be held personally responsible.
Although this may sound difficult to some, we have to give the authorities time, and trust them to do their job in bringing those responsible to 'justice'.
- Kiko0
what about the bombings before iraq?
bali, embassy bombings, previous WTC bombings etc etc
lowimpakt
(Jul 8 05, 02:06)Middle eastern oppression has been going on long before these bombings.
Please dont get me wrong I am totally against what has happened and feel for all the families involved.
But if we are ever to stop this so called terrorism we must fight it from the rrot, and as previously said that means leaving other people alone, and trying to inforce OUR way of life on them.
