I grew up in Belmont Shore, but moved away before high school. I'd love to move back to Long Beach. So beautiful around 2nd street and I guess downtown now. It was pretty ghetto 10 years ago, but it's got a nice night life now..
anyway

punk brewster rules....ya you will be fine in the LB....youre not near the bad areas anyways, you more by the cypress/seal beach side.... so when is the welcoming party?

Downtown at Pine is nice, neat the aquarium, queen mary and harbor. Ocean Ave all the way to Seal Beach is great too. I lived in Bellmont heights for a few years and the Bellmont shores area can't be beat. Just stay away of anything from 7th to the 405, that's where all the violent douchebags from the "hood" live.

(Jul 6 05, 09:13)I agree dont go "North"!! i would say from the ocean(livingston/ocean blvd) to 4th st. is good (a lot of diversity) and from "Junipero" to "Xiemino" and your straight! And remember parking sucks!
I stay in Belmont heights and the neighborhoods relaxed and clean - I used to stay in "Alamitos Beach Area" (4th & Cherry )Where most of the property is well kept, but it's borderline...(Snoop-D-O-DOUBLE-G... But still a fresh area (indie theatre, cafe's, vintage shops, furniture, etc..)
But the best way to find your spot is to cruize the neighborhoods (DAY & NIGHT)
hope this helps.
