well para i dunno. My brothers getting married soon to a nice Paki girl, and all the families on all sides are coming together celebrating the union, and talking about "what a nice family she/he comes from" and i'm being told when i go on my travels i'll have all these people looking after me etc.. and i can see how in certain cultural circumstances, it kinda is ok by me. even though i cud never invest in it.

but again i think it comes down to the cultural logic of late capitalism, that we feel we can do away with it completely. which is cool. if we were living in some sorta agrarian society we'd see little alternative than having some form of "man-woman" marriage type thing.

yeah, well, you have to let people do what they want as long as they're not harming anyone else even though you may want that for yourself, I lived with my girlfriend for 8 years before we got married, it was cool before, it's the same now. Someone tried to mug me for my wedding ring the other day, so I gave him a slap, he fell over a bollard and cracked his head on a skip - I felt really guilty and thought about calling an ambulance...

Funny, she was like so I am going to set up a business so gay people can come into Spain and I can marry them off with someone and let them stay at Ibiza.

I'm guessing, all this chick was talking about was how she loves curcumsized dudes and gay marriage in Spain. I was like ok honey, whateva makes you happy. She was cool though, an English teacher visiting her father.
She must have been talkin' drunk bar BS talk, you know...
