I fell asleep in the sun on Sunday at the beach b4 applying sunscreen to my lower legs. (i'm a pasty white boy..)
Now my feet are beet red and so swollen I can't even see my ankle bones and my calves feel funny. Should I go to the emergency room?

seriously,
put vinegar on the burns.
leave it to dry, repeat a few times...
then use natural yoghurt after rinsing the vinegar off...
then use vitamin E and Aloe Vera after sun stuff....

First time I actually laughed out loud in a long time... I got burned this weekend in San Diego. It hurts, but damn, no swelling or crazy shit like that... Take care of that quickly! I'd hit the dr. up

didn't you use sun block?
and what MX_OnD said.

No I didn't use sunblock. I was hungover and thought a quick nap on the beach would do me good. Three hours later...
And it's not the burn that hurts - I can handle that -it's this weird ankle swelling..
OK to update: I called my regular doc, but he had no office hours, but I asked him to return my call. I went to the emergency room at 11:35 am. I sat. I waited. I waited. I sat. They called me at 3pm - at the exact same moment they called me in, my doctor calls me on my cel. I answer phone. ER nurse gets pissed that I am now standing there tal;king on the cel phone and wasting her precious time for 30 seconds not sitting down at the table. She starts adamantly saying "No cel phone!" As my doctor is talking to me about what I should be doing with the swollen feet thing...
The ER nurse gets so adamant yelling "NO CEL PHONE!" That i hastily and probably a bit rudely hang up on my doc.
At which point she hands me some papers and says "Fill these out and we'll call you in a half an hour."
I was like "WHAT? I had my doctor on the phone and I could of went to his office this very second, but no! Now I have to fill out forms and wait thirty more minutes? Maybe you efficiency experts could have had me fill these out for the last three hours I was waiting in your freaking waiting room. Screw this."
I walked out, with my swollen red hobbit like feet.
Sure I wouldn've like someone in the ER to have seen them, but my doc had gotten far enough into his conversation to let me know that the symptom was common with some bad sunburns and I should elevate them, pop advil at double dosage, stay home from work for a day and call him in a day or two if nothing changes - all of which I was doing anyway.
So..man..why does healthcare suck so much...

you can just have your legs cut off at the knees and get one of those cool sith lord support suits like vader.
but seriously,
i'm black...never had to deal with sunburn or anything of the sort.
any black people here ever run into a similar situation after sunbathing?

Tick...
I had a similiar problem few years ago. Went to a friends cottage, and toasted my white-boy feet. They swelled up like crazy, the pain was insane.
The worst part was when I droped a pointy object and it hit my foot. Lets just say it was messy, lots of liquid came out. lol.
Take it easy man. You dont need to see a doctor, just dont put too much strain on your feet.
- gruntt0
jay - you don't sunburn? is that because you're black?
i could swear i had a conversation with a black girl i know and she said she does burn.
- gruntt0
jox - redhead, yes. albino, no... THANK GOD.
there used to be this redhead dude at the local pool and his skin was almost translucent. i looked like i was from the caribean next to him.
